The Society of Young Inklings (SYI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to “freeing the creative voices of youth writers one story at a time” through in-depth writing mentorship programs, contests, book publishing, dynamic creative writing curriculum, games, and an exclusive online interactive membership community experience. These programs and learning opportunities are designed to support and communicate the SYI mission:

“To take youth on a journey to discover and cultivate their writing voice. In partnership with author-mentors and a passionate community of peers, Inklings develop the essential thinking skills writers need to get their creative ideas on the page.”

The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is an essential piece of the SYI community. Its members meet regularly to provide feedback and guidance for how to iterate on SYI practices that can improve programming for young writers. YAB members also contribute time and experience to various projects which support the SYI membership experience.
