Today we are featuring Inklings Book Contest 2021 finalist Amruta Krishnan Srinivasan! Amruta finished 5th grade this past school year. Amruta submitted a lovely poem called “Wuthering” Wind. Enjoy!

“WUTHERING” WIND
by Amruta Krishnan Srinivasan

A cry out in the stormy sky
A song of longing and want
A sharp stroke on a toddler’s cheek
That is wind
Sounding like a man who has just lost something in his grasp
The drummer’s bang to a war of thunder and rain
The voice so powerful that even the strongest trees bend in a bow
A forest dancing, not knowing what to succumb to:
The wild wind’s screech?
Or the thunder’s mighty clap?
