FRESH INK: READ THIS FIRST

1. Who Fresh Ink Is For
Fresh Ink is designed for youth writers who:
-
Have a complete novel manuscript (beginning, middle, and end).
-
Are ready for three rounds of deep revision:
-
Big-picture story and structure
-
Scene-by-scene pacing and detail
-
Word and sentence-level polish
-
-
Want to experience the entire publishing journey as a guided learning process — from revision through book layout, proofreading, and launch.
If you’re still drafting or revising your first complete draft, our 1:1 Mentorship program is the right next step. It will help you finish and polish your manuscript so you can move into Fresh Ink with confidence.
2. What Fresh Ink Is (and Isn’t)
Fresh Ink is:
-
A guided apprenticeship in bringing a novel from rough draft to polished, published book.
-
Led by a professional mentor, with support from our Publishing Director and Executive Director.
-
A celebration of your hard work and growth — your published book is the capstone of the learning experience.
Fresh Ink is not:
-
A traditional publishing contract (where the publisher invests and recoups via sales).
-
A “pay-to-publish” service focused on marketing or sales revenue.
-
A fit for writers seeking to publish immediately without completing revisions.
3. How Long It Takes
Fresh Ink is a complete publishing journey — from a full-novel revision process to professional book production and a celebratory launch. Most writers complete the program in 7–9 months, though some take longer depending on their pace.
4. Program Pricing
The tuition reflects the high level of personalized instruction and professional services included. At $3,000–$4,500 for a typical novel (up to 40K words), Fresh Ink is comparable to other advanced, specialized learning opportunities — such as private arts coaching, competitive music programs, or elite sports training — and provides both lasting skill development and a tangible outcome: a professionally published novel your child can hold in their hands.
Your tuition covers:
-
12 mentorship sessions ($1,500) for full-novel revision
-
Editorial reading fee ($400–$600) so your mentor can deeply review your manuscript between sessions
-
Layout, proofreading, and publishing services
-
Program direction from both our Executive Director and Publishing Director
