OUR NEXT EVENT:
Mysterious Things: Catch a Question by Its Toe
A Conversation with Andy J. Pizza
September 9, 2026 | 4:00 – 5:00 pm PST // 7:00 – 8:00 pm EST
What if the stories we’re meant to tell begin with questions rather than answers?
Join us for a playful and thought-provoking conversation with author, illustrator, podcaster, and creative guide Andy J. Pizza as we explore curiosity, creativity, voice, and the mysterious invisible things that shape our stories and our lives.
Inspired by Andy’s newest book, Mysterious Things: Catch a Question by Its Toe, we’ll wander together through questions like:
- How do storytellers discover the questions that are most theirs to ask?
- What happens when invisible ideas become characters, metaphors, and worlds we can see?
- How might visualizing mysterious things deepen our understanding of story, theme, and meaning?
- What is story itself, and what kind of magic does it make possible?
This conversation is designed for storytellers of all kinds: writers, illustrators, educators, dreamers, makers, and curious humans. Whether you’re nine years old or ninety, whether you’re working on a novel, sketchbook, classroom project, or simply paying attention to the stories unfolding around you, you’ll find connections and possibilities in the conversation.
Inklings Community Event Guidelines & Important Info
Society of Young Inklings is a youth writing community, and some of our public events also welcome parents, educators, writers, artists, and other curious people of all ages. Please check individual event descriptions for participation details.
To keep our community safe and fun, please be …
- Kind: We’re here to build each other up, not tear each other down
- Age Appropriate: Our community welcomes writers from ages 8–18. To make sure everyone feels comfortable, we stick with topics you’d find in a PG movie. Please keep your shared work free from violent, harmful, or adult-only themes.
- Safe: Don’t share personal or sensitive information like your home address, phone number, or any other personal information.
If you have questions about what you should or should not share, talk to your parent/guardian. Parents/guardians – we encourage you to regularly discuss Internet safety with your child.
