For parents, guardians, and supporters of youth writers:

When there’s a young person in your life who is always writing stories, filling notebooks, inventing characters, or dreaming of becoming an author, it can be hard to know how best to support them.

Join Young Inklings founder Naomi Kinsman for a conversation about what young writers need as they grow. How might they find community, mentorship, the just-right creative challenges, and opportunities to share their work?

We’ll also introduce what’s ahead at Young Inklings this fall and leave plenty of time for your questions.

Inklings Community Event Guidelines & Important Info

Society of Young Inklings is a youth writing community, and some of our public events also welcome parents, educators, writers, artists, and other curious people of all ages. Please check individual event descriptions for participation details.

  • Kind: We’re here to build each other up, not tear each other down
  • Age Appropriate: Our community welcomes writers from ages 8–18. To make sure everyone feels comfortable, we stick with topics you’d find in a PG movie. Please keep your shared work free from violent, harmful, or adult-only themes.
  • Safe: Don’t share personal or sensitive information like your home address, phone number, or any other personal information.
    If you have questions about what you should or should not share, talk to your parent/guardian. Parents/guardians – we encourage you to regularly discuss Internet safety with your child.

Our two Inklings leadership teams, the Youth Advisory Board and the Inklings Member Advisory Team are open now for high-school aged applicants.
