Today, we are featuring Inklings Book Contest 2024 finalist Maya Sebt! She finished 8th grade this past school year and wrote a descriptive poem called “My Beauty”. Our judges loved Maya’s use of metaphors and rhyme. Continue below to enjoy her poem in digital book or plain text form.
My dark brown hair flows free,
A crown of glory, a treasure to see.
My eyes, like the stars in a midnight sky,
Shining bright, with a gentle sigh.
My rosy cheeks glow bright, like the dawn’s early light,
My nose, a delicate arch, a work of art in sight.
My lips, a gentle curve, inviting and sweet,
A smile that can light up the world at my feet.
My skin, a tapestry of warm, golden hue,
A masterpiece of beauty, a sight to view.
My heart, a symphony of love and dreams,
A melody of life, a rhythm of themes.
My body, a temple, a sanctuary of grace,
A vessel of wonder, a sight to behold in this place.
Oh, my own beauty, a treasure so scarce,
A gift from above, so pure and fair.
In mirrors of reflection, I see beauty so rare,
A treasure to behold, a gift beyond compare.
