What Story Will You Tell?

Teaching Objective:

Writers will learn to identify meaningful small-moment stories from their lives, as source material for personal narratives.

Materials Needed:

  • Plain paper or writer’s notebook
  • Pencil

Overview:

In this visualization game, writers will explore options and choose a stand-out moment for a personal narrative. While this video may be used as a stand alone mini-lesson, it was developed as part of our series, Spill Some Ink with Stone Soup, in honor of our collaborative writing contest with the beloved literary magazine in Fall 2019.

We are looking for stories and poems that have a strong point of view and for writers who are committed to the revision process. Up to ten winners will be chosen from grades 3-6 and up to ten from grades 7-9 to be published in our 2020 Inklings Book Anthology.
