STARTING A PERSONAL NARRATIVE

What Story Will You Tell?

Teaching Objective:

Writers will learn to identify meaningful small-moment stories from their lives, as source material for personal narratives.

Materials Needed:

  • Plain paper or writer’s notebook
  • Pencil

Overview:

In this visualization game, writers will explore options and choose a stand-out moment for a personal narrative. While this video may be used as a stand alone mini-lesson, it was developed as part of our series, Spill Some Ink with Stone Soup, in honor of our collaborative writing contest with the beloved literary magazine in Fall 2019.
