A REGULAR TUESDAY
from Xiao Poems
by Elodie Weinzierl
He walks down the dismal corridor of St. Peter’sÂ
with Pablo and Chris at his side.
All dressed in their blue uniforms, undeniable.
They hurriedly enter into Mrs. Wood’s room,Â
a sign on her door that reads: English
They all silently settle in.Â
Mrs. Woods is a nice teacher,Â
As walking down each aisle,
She helps them in any way she can
But they are still glad when the bell rings,Â
Signaling the end of the day.Â
He walks out the door,Â
With his bookbag slung over his shoulder
He can’t wait.
It’s Tuesday, the only day he gets to see his father.
He is barely able to contain himself as he waits,
And waits,
And waits.
And then, he sees his dad, with his bulging belly and jolly face,
His dad greets him in a big bear hug, and eagerlyÂ
Awaits what fun activity will present itself next.
