Today we are featuring Inklings Book Contest 2019 finalist, Shinjini Samanta! Shinjini finished 4th grade this past school year. The poem she submitted is called “Weaving Dawn.” We asked Shinjini what she likes best about her poem and she said, “It has many emotions and real.”

Dawn is not always
what it is meant to be.
Dawn is not always
what reveals paths.
Dawn is what is not certain.
Dawn is what is deprived of happiness.
Yet dawn is where hope can be born.
Where darkness fades away,
Where birds sing their cry,
Where the foliage is bathed
By the drops of dew,
Where the horizon fills with light,
Where the beds of roses become
Fragrant as the buds bloom,
Weaving everything together
is when dawn is complete.
Morning has arrived.
