Today we are featuring Inklings Book Contest 2018 finalist, Alexa Zhang! Alexa finished 4th grade this past school year. The poem she submitted is called “The Calling” We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did!

Come

It’s the night

Come

Join the fight

Pools of silver

Sprays of gold light

Hello my archer

Here is your bow

Run to the boat

Then swiftly row

Climb up the tree

So you’ll be free

Leap to the sky

Arrows take flight

Finding death

Their last, final breath

Souls of the brave

Rise

Shade and shadow

Take vengeance right

Wolves of night

Roar to the moonlight

Mother Bear, rise

Fly up on high

Black as the night

Away passed tonight

Mother Bear’s kin

Who now will win?

Take vengeance right

Take back the night
